Each year, spring is a rebirth of sorts. A time to shake off the old, enjoy the “new” around us and make plans for the warmer days ahead. Thus far in 2023 our real estate market is flourishing with the trend in 2023 – monthly sales have been increasing since January and residential units available up 34% from this time last year - all strong indicators of fruitful months ahead for both buyers and sellers.

Happy Mother's Day to All Our Beautiful Mom's!

In Honor of Mother’s Day, I felt it only made sense to share some OBX history about the Outer Bank’s very first mothers. If you have been to the outdoor theater, Manteo’s Annual summer’s musical about the “Lost Colony” on Roanoke Island you may have heard the name Eleanor Dare. Eleanor came to North Carolina with her husband, Ananias Dare, as well as sixteen other women from England in the 1500’s as the first English settlers to arrive in American. Their mission was to successfully establish their first colony which happened to be right here on Roanoke Island. While we don't know much about her, and she is one of the people to have "disappeared" with the Lost Colony, we do know that she gave birth to the first English child in North America, Virginia Dare. Carrying and having a child is difficult enough on its own in the 21st century, but consider that she left England already pregnant, sailed across the Atlantic Ocean, then gave birth in an unfamiliar place without much of a support system or the comforts of home, all at the age of 19 or 20. Cheers to Eleanor!

Oh, and before I forget...

Mom’s we have the cutest boutique that just opened in the shopping center, Southern Shores Crossings, just a few doors down from Steamers. If you are on the OBX, you may just want to stop in and buy yourself a mother’s day gift.

Opening night for the longest running outdoor theatre production in North America. The story of the Lost Colony. Last night of production is August 26th. This is a fantastic show!

June 16-17th

Kite Displays at Jockey’s Ridge. If you have not been, it is an amazing sight with endless colors and shapes flying through the air.

Weekly security inspections starting at $65 and up based on the square footage of your home.
He will get your home open and ready for you before arrival and will close the home down when you leave for $50hr.
Storm Prep & Reporting, will close all professionally installed storm shutters and secure all outdoor furniture and storm doors. Double check all your windows and doors to be sure they are closed tight and locked. Turn off water and other mechanical items of your choice to prepare for any upcoming storm. $125hr
Key Holder Services, serves as the homeowners point of contact to assist with contractor and service provider scheduling access and to ensure maintenance services are completed to owner specifications. $35hr.

Ian grew up on the OBX and started his business after receiving calls from many homeowners over the years asking for his help. We anticipate he is going to knock it out of the park as there is such a need for our homeowners to know someone that knows their home has their back in case of emergency or just to keep an ongoing eye on it.
